"What I like about the Dallas Squadron and the Civil Air Patrol is all the interesting  people I'm around."

The Civil Air Patrol is THE official Auxiliary of the United States Air Force; however, there is no military obligation as members.  All services are strictly voluntary.  Qualified members are eligible to wear the United States Air Force Uniform with distinctive Civil Air Patrol insignia and awards.  Training programs are available for both our pilot and non-pilot members in areas of Search and Rescue, Cadet programs, First Aid, Communications, Leadership, and much more.

Flying Activities

Civil Air Patrol pilots fly approximately 80 percent of all search and rescue hours requested by the Air Force Rescue and Coordination Center, Langley AFB, VA, as the auxiliary of the Air Force. CAP has more than 530 corporate aircraft located around the country.  Flying is not always free, but it is usually less expensive than rental aircraft when a cost is involved.  Members may also fly their own aircraft for CAP activities. Reimbursement for fuel, oil, and maintenance is available on selected Air Force missions, Red Cross missions, Customs missions, and some state missions.  Flying activities include:

  • Search and rescue (Air Force missions)
  • Reconnaissance-Drug Interdiction missions for U.S. Customs, U.S. Forest Service and DEA
  • Red Cross blood/tissue missions
  • Disaster relief missions
  • Civil Defense missions
